The difference is subtle. The second version allows the window frame to recede a bit.
I liked the first version and didn't mind the detail in the dirty window frame. What I don't much care for is your choice of coloration--the pink cast (in both) is odd, to me....not sepia and not B&W. But that's just my prejudice. I also did like the soft focus.
In my view, the major "problem" with this image is the composition. The girl's face does not relate well to the window. The dark vertical that separates her face from the window pane seems to cut the composition. If the angle were different, her profile could intersect the light from the pane tying the two strong elements together. Or, if she were further away, we'd get the sense of isolation and distancing from the outside world. |

Thanks KaDi - Coloration drives me insane as I'm a bit color blind to reds. I'll drop it down a bit more. As for the composition, thanks for the feedback, unfortunately I'll have to wait to reshoot this (if I do).

It's a lot closer to sepia, but there's still a pink cast. Not so prominent now as before, though. This 3rd version wouldn't prick my pink-tone radar if I hadn't seen the others....and I doubt you really want to go much farther as blues and sickly yellows might begin to emerge. (I'm not so great at color myself, however.) |
