I've just begun to get into the whole digital photography thing. I've had my camera since Christmas and just now figured out how to use the Closeup lol- I suppose if I'd read the manual first it would have helped!
Anyhow, since I'm a beginner I could really use some tips. lately I've been taking pictures of bugs, and flowers. I take quite a few of my 4yo daughter also.
I've messed around with PSP8 some but am still getting to know the program.
I'd really like to post a few pics but I don't know how to do so. |

Welcome, welcome!
I grew up north of Seattle. :)
You can go to your portfolio under "my home" and may be able to upload. I don't know if non-donors can or not? Never been a non-donor. hehe. Regardless, welcome! :) |

check out all the tutorials and stuff under the "Learn" section. to post a picture you need to host it on another server and then you can link to it. hang around the forums for a while and you will pick up alot of knowledge.

| Hi Missinseattle! You're welcome to post some photos in the Individual Photograph forum but because you are not a member, they will have to be hosted somewhere else. If you do have them hosted, instructions for linking can be found in this tutorial. Otherwise, check out a membership here. It comes with a portfolio that you can post photos in. |

Thank you for the welcome.
I don't think I can upload pics. I'm really just looking for some advice on getting started.
I'd REALLY like a better camera but this one works for now. It's nothng fancy and I figure I can learn with this one and then save for a nice one.
My husband used to be big into photography but used a regular camera. He's not much help because he doesn't like the digital lol. |

What are you looking to learn more about? :) Photography is pretty broad, especially depending on what you want to photograph!
I'd stick with the camera you have until you find specific limitations and then go from there... Photography, to me at least, is an art form first, technical second. :) Find your way, and then when the equipment limits you, go from there.
For example, I only went to a DSLR over a compact for the fact that I needed faster response than a compact could give me (I primarly photograph children and people, compacts don't give the response or control I desired).
I would definitely suggest going to a DSLR when and if you do upgrade though... The benefits are countless as compared to a compact, to me, and they're not that much more expensive anymore with the Nikon D50/D70 and Rebel. :) |

You know, I don't really know what I'm looking to learn more about lol. I'm just kind of learning as I go.
And you are so right, I HATE the response time on my camera. Drives me insane. Makes it really hard to take pics of my daughter because she moves so much so I can't just click away.
I'm really just wanting to learn more. I'll browse around here and read some more on the forum. Thank you for the help! |

| No problem, like I said, when you hit something you specifically wish to know, just ask. Someone here will have the answer, I'm sure! :) |
