I dl'ed the windows media file, but all I get is the audio of the Coldplay song. I've tried a few media players, and none work. I need to install a video codec. Could someone tell me which I need for this file? |

Very nice and touching! Good Job! My hubby and I do these. I think the software we use is called Photostory.

Very nice photos, but I'm going to burst a bubble...only because Pedro knows he's one of my frickin heros and he can take it.
1. The photos moved waaaaaay to fast. waay. When it comes to photos of people (especially good photos), I need at least 5 or 6 seconds before I'm ready to move on. I felt uncomfortable watching it and actually had to stop because it moved so fast.
2. The song...not sure how it fits in with the context. That's pretty subjective, I suppose.
3. The story itself. I didn't understand how the photos tied together. Many of the photos didn't have context (but were still good photos) so it was more of a montage of a bunch of people-photos. Maybe that was the idea, but it's not a photo story.
But most people are really diggin' it Pedro, so I must just be screwed up or too critical or something! |

I have tried to watch this on two different computers now and got the same thing both times: no video and after the first line of whatever song that is my screen went to black and white lines and system locked up.
I hope I am not missing the next Oscar contender. |

Pedro, this is completely amazing. The images are so beautiful! I've already played it for my daughter & will do so for my son later today. (BTW, I think the music is perfect - sorry bear.)
Thank you to Ivo for bringing it to our attention.
[to those having trouble - mine played in Windows Media without a hitch - maybe try that?]

Pedro ... what package did you use to produce that? |
Looks like Photo Story 3 for Windows. Its free on Microsoft's website, if you have Plus! Its very easy to use. For $20 you can buy a plug in so you can burn to DVD for TV viewing.
Edit: The plug-in renders for TV DVD.

Gawrsh (said like Goofy)...thanks y'all.
I made that back in March right after I got back from Thailand. It's not really even a finished product; I was just testing out a bunch of different pieces of slideshow software. I think (but honestly can't remember) this one was done with Photostory3 as bbower said. I don't have the original anymore so I can't check. It'll be either that one or ProShow Gold 2.5. They're both uber easy to use. ProShow is way more versatile (and does nice DVDs), but Photostory is free.
The timeline of the photos is purely chronological; simply in the order that I took them on the trip. I went from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, then up a mountain, then down a mountain, back to Bangkok, then to Narita, Japan. Agreed they're mostly just people photos, but that's all I really care to do most of the time.
Mike was wondering about the music selection - I struggled with it a bit because on the surface that song doesn't really seem to fit lyrically. Not at first anyway. But had you been there with me you'd understand the compassion I felt and how the people there touched my heart. They changed me in many ways. If you still don't get it...that's ok too. I do :)
I absolutely agree that the pix moved too fast. But I had to compress over 2000 photos down to 100, and even then it's a monster file. I shortened the duration to save space. Next month I'm doing a presentation at my parents about my trip, and I'll redo it with way longer transitions.
Anyway. thanks to Johnny Salami (AKA Ivo) for the props. I couldn't figure out why I was getting all the PMs about it through the night :)
P-ness
edit ps: the rest of the pics are HERE if anyone cares to see them.

Like I said though Bebe, I've tried several players, Windows media (new and old versions), winamp, BSplayer, even quicktime, and nothing. That's not how the issue is fixed though. The problem Alienyst and I are having is we need to know which codec was used to compress this file so we can install it on our machines. So Pedro...? Any info on the codec? |

Wow, simply stunning and mind opening. I am a typical "mans man" and I'm not ashamed to say that I'm sitting here wiping my cheeks dry. Very captivating throughout. That acoustic version of Yellow set the mood for the whole montage, excellent choice. Incredible job Pedro. Damn, how can we add a montage to our favorites? |
