I am afraiding that using desaturation by color channel in challenges is not a good idea as some ppl think it is against the rules. That easily can make some of them giving low scores.
IHMO it should be mentioned in basic editing rules so ppl will know it is allowed. Though, it is used for years in challenges, new ppl don't know that. It can make really creative things if used wisely.
What do you think? |

I know... I used that. AND I just got my photo to be validated because of using it.
I just want to get more attention that selective desaturation is allowed.
But is it making some ppl giving low votes?

Here's the thing. I bumped the other thread cause some people want to request DQ on EVERY single image that has selective desat. So I supose the fact is...people DO think it's illegal. There is even a tutorial on it. People don't read it. yeah, it CAN be done illegally, so I supose it's a good idea to request on suspicious images, but every single one?? geez. Anyway, It says to vote as if every image is legal, but I doubt that happens either. Some score high, some don't. Depends on if it looks like you did it to enhance the photo, or if you did it to say 'yeehaw...lookie me ma, I desaturated all but the eyes!' |
