I am looking at getting into the dSLR world and I am alittle confused about the lenses. I am unsure about the 1.6X I am hearing about?
Correct me if I am wrong but a Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III USM lens is actually a 120-480mm lens? .
If the best zoom for a portait is 100mm-then the lens to use is a 24-85mm?
Next question/s, I will be doing auto photography (full car and details), candids, portaits, typical DPC challenges, nature, architecture.
The lenses I would use are:
1. auto photography: 28-105mm or 28-135mm or 28-85 (best true representation of car), 18-55mm(wide angle)
2. portaits: 28-85mm or 28-105mm or 28-135mm
3. candids: 75-300mm
4. nature & architecture: 18-55mm, 28-105mm, 75-300mm
So I am thinking I only need 3 lenses: the kit lens (18-55mm), 28-105mm or similar, and 75-300mm.
Please let me know if I am on the right track in my thinking.
Thank you.
