Joey, you know I like your stuff...I apologize for my smartass comment below but I can never resist commenting when people continuously start threads about their own work (or worse, about how many more profile views they would like...ahem...Brad)!

I think deapee's comment was along the same lines, don't take it too harshly...deapee isn't great with words!

As for your soggy butt, let it soak my friend...if you're in need of constructive criticism you will have to weed through the "ooh's and ahh's" as you will pretty much always get those in these forums. Ignore those who are easily impressed and learn from guys like Martin and others whose work impresses you.

and as I've said before, keep it up!

Interesting how the masses seem to have slanted the other way. Its simple to imply jealousy but I'd say its moreso over-kill and undoubtably viewed to be bordering on the fringe of conceit. Joey is likely basking in the attention fawned upon him recently but as with everything else in life, even the sweetest candy can leave you with a stomache ache. I'd say a greater appreciation will be granted as his talent matures and the teenage need for mass acceptance diminishes.

In a way it was good to be handed this harsh lesson by a bunch of cyber entities as opposed to those who may really matter.

Jealousy. Perhaps people are. This kid is on a roll with his photos and happy to know that he has talent at a such early age and use it for a greater good. I encourage him, Joey to continue to experiment in all forms of this art. Even if it a pile of dog crap. Just be sure to use great composition efforts.:) Although my taste for the grundge isn't at the top of my list of fav. styles. However, it's an effective form of style to illiustrate a emotion (pain, suffering ect) for the viewer from a photo. I just hope you find meaning with your work. Perhaps you will or have already done so.

I'm wondering how other photographers reacted when Ansel Adams was out wondering-abouts the mountain ranges.....

First of all, I'm not belittling a kid. Second of all, if I were, you'd all know it. I have not made personal attacks on anyone...except the COMMUNITY IN GENERAL that flocks to this kid's (in my opinion) mostly worthless images. There, I said it.

That being said, yes, I have seen a photo or two of Joey's that I do like....he definately has a gift, there is no doubt about that...I just don't think that EVERYTHING he posts is BOW DOWN AT HIS KNEES worthy. Personally, I'm sorry that most people do.

When it's all said and done, the vast majority is just blowing smoke up the poor kid's poop shoot...and I feel bad for him for that.

Stick with this...you can really make something of photography some day...and it's easy to get discouraged or find other things to focus on...but you really have a gift, definately stick with it.

deapee, i love reading your posts...they make me crack up sometimes because they are so off the cuff. you keep it up, too!

these threads always swing one direction and then the other. once somebody has the courage to say something there are many that follow and it becomes gang mentality. don't worry about it, cuntboy.
ugh. i hate that word and will only ever use it in a 'quoted' context...and probably not even there after this.

Ahhh, as you may know, artist are a bunch a touchy-feely group of interesting folks. That's what we have here, a huge competition. Not challenges, but, in our own survival among the fitttist in our own sub-culture of photography. Think about it. We all here because we want to learn, yet, there is a need to be reconized by our own personal photo masteries. We are competteing for that small amount of time, those famous 15 minutes.

I agree the term is harsh and should be explained in the context of the comment. I wouldn't allow anyone to refer to me as that to my face. Maybe its some hip term we've not become aware of. I can't imagine that its complimentary. I like the fact that joey answers a lot of the comments. And I like the fact that deapee has the fortitude to speak his mind. Winston Churchill said the price of greatness is responsibility.... Without that one word the response takes a whole different (positive) tone. Take responsibility for your words too.

true of everyone not just artists, and joey has asked for fifteen minutes on his image, it is our choice to give it or not. sadly, not much attention has been paid to the image
