Today in the mail I got a bunch of stuff from the town. One of the things was about the fire department and a hook and ladder fire truck. This was one of the things that would mean a raise in taxes here which are already high enough. So I went for a walk to the hill that splits the valley I live in to see just exactly what we need this hook and ladder fire truck for. Yes, those little specs in the center is the entire village. Two steeples and one smoke stack from a factory that is being torn down. What do we need it for I don't know, but I liked the picture. It looks much better when larger though. |

Wonder what those pretty horizon lines will look like bathed in the amber golds of autumn?

Well...that I know...gorgeous! This view is from South Williamstown looking north towards VT. The last line of mountains in the shot are called the Green Mountains even though they are the same range. They just change from the Berkshires to the Greens when they cross the border into VT.
I was reading some local trades this week and businesses are worried about the leaf peeper tourist trade this fall. Seems MA and southern VT were plagued by tent caterpillars this year and a lot of trees were seriously damaged. I took a look at the Greylock range tonight as well and noticed a distinct line of brownish trees all across the entire slope. Apparently this is the effect of those little bastages.
Thanks for the comment too. I just wish the site would have taken the 800 pixel version. Even those few 160 pixe4ls made a huge difference in this pic. You could make out detail in the steeples that you just can't see in this one.
