set 640x480 max size, set resolution at 72dpi, save for web at high compression... should knock it down to less than 150k... all my pics are done like that...

Thanks for the help. This is all new to me so I'm learning as I go.

WhhooHooo no more commercial photography for me and proof DPC doesnt like an vivid imagination. It is techincally a strong shot, (stronger than most in my portfolio), so folks have montior calibration problems or they are scared of my wicked crazy mind - which i love because it makes a great follow up to shoes bwhahhaha.

This is my 3rd challenge, I've yet to get someone be brave enough to comment honestly when rating my shot as 1, 2 or 3. I just had a whole bunch of people rate my Branch photo with a 3 or less and nobody has critiqued.

The best you can do is manage your own reactions. If you rate something low, be honest and, in a nice way, critique the photo. By the end of the rating period, I always comment on all photos I rate low.

However, this is a great site for learning and expanding horizons. Don't let the lack of critiques stop you from participating and getting the most out of the site.

i like the direction, if not the speed...

I really like the fact that there are a number of first and 2nd time submitters in this challenge (although to be honest, this is also the first time I have monitored a "scores" thread).

Y'all are doing better than me too :).

Violetta. I don't know if you are still running in the mid 2.###'s, but I'm disappointed that your pic is giving me such a run for the money on a ribbon on my first submit :).

It's probably just the subject matter :). I'll try harder to find something useful for perspective.

I was a bit over 6 not that long ago, LOL, and still only one comment (which was helpful, as I said in the thread I started), do not understand how anyone can possibly give a one and not comment WHY, but then I want to help, not just try to destroy, so maybe that is why I cannot see that? Oh well, LOL. Not really a problem, just a minor annoyance.

Because there are a handful of people on this site that will abuse you for 3 forum pages for offering critiques or "call someone out" for comments explaining why they didnt vote an image high. After a couple of experiences like that, very few folk will keep up commenting with anything other than glowing praise because being personally attacked for offering to help someone learn isnt much fun.

That said, you can PM me after the challenege & i will give you an honest crit if youre still looking for one.

edit: brainfart

Thanks mesmeraj, may well take you up on that, though the one coment that was left did point out two weaknesses in my photo, one I could of done something about (the background) and second, not much, have not the software to reduce the noise. Also clicked on the full critique, which may help too, will see, obviously LOL. Thanks again, Jacque

The CritqueClub gets at least 250 requests a challenge and there simply isnt enough of us to cover them all. I hope you get a CC responce - but don't hold your breath on that one!!

3.7365

*great sigh* Their imaginations are already dead...

Oh well, I'm voting a 2-4 on most of the literal tree "branches" photos.

Well, if you do that I'll have my vengeance on all the non-literal "branches"!
