Well, I didn't know my winning photo is a subject of discussion. No excuses. It was a re-hash of a tried- and-tested formula to redeem my "ego" back after 3 dismal dpchallenge scores.

What you see lately was this...

It was supposed to be along the genre of "fashion" photography, thus, the face-smoothening. About the drape...well, that's my lucky charm. I earned my first blue with it and my first international publication too. Probably I am classically conditioned to go back to this formula whenever I need to feed my self-esteem.:)

But I also have other photos like these...

In other words, I can be adaptable. Which one do I prefer? Frankly speaking, I like the "fashion" photography. I don't have to go out anywhere. I use my classroom as my "studio" and my students as my "models". But for the more documentary type, I have to spend a longer time out there, or I have to go and travel to get more of less familiar faces and culture.

Anyway since I am at it, kindly view my portrait works in the link underneath. I am very proud of this gallery as it became a top at pbase. The faces are un-smoothened (well, most of them) and very real.

But if you like more "fashion" photography, here's the link. It includes my out-takes from the DL challenge.

And I am trying more landscape lately...been learning how to post-process them though someone said it looks like "Las Vegas".:)

And now the question...which genre of photography should I pursue more?

And for PORTRAIT challenge...hmmm...well...watch out. I have to look for a more colorful veil.:) If I couldn't find one, maybe I need to wake up early on Saturday and have a trip to the orphanage.:) Or maybe I will just skip it.:)

Many thanks anyway for noticing my work. Your comments mean a lot to me as they allow me to reflect on my work.

Manny

Manny,

I have been a fan of yours since I first joined. You are an excellent photgrapher regardless of the subject.

My personal preference? I like the second row of photographs so much more than your 'fashion' images. Their purpose, for me, is not to look pretty but to tell a story. I've seen quite a few of your landscapes. I prefer those also, over the 'fashion' images, because they too seem to hold more meaning, greater depth, an insight into what you see.
