Dogs do make great subjects. I don't have one myself, so I borrowed this one for a shot on the beach.

Akasha is a big ham and loves to have her pic took every where she can.
I'd say I like outdoors natural dog shots the best.

This sweetheart was waiting for it's person, who was out surfing. I've never seen such dedication and focus, had to capture the moment. Animals continue to make my world twirl...

This shot was originally a Kodachrome taken around 1987. Recently scanned. These were our first two dogs, gone now for several years, but still can bring tears to our eyes. Penny and Tiffany...RIP.

LKMote:
I think the shot is ok, though the little stick coming from the bottom left into the dogs head is a little distracting. I wish the grass were more blurred out because it can make a very distracting background (maybe maximize your aperature?). As others mentioned, I wish the dog's eyes were visible too.
I know it can be very hard getting a good shot of pets, as they don't take posing requests as well as a person. I took this shot the other day at the lake. I think it shows my dogs' happy and playful nature, though I'm not totally satisfied with the shot technically.

Thanks for the comment. I agree it is hard photographing pets. My moms in the first picture was sunbathing. That is one of her dogs favorite things to do thus the closed eyes. I agree it would look better with them open. Now the real challenge is photographing my moms other Boston. She just moves too quick.
I love these pictures of all the dogs and horse.

Not actually precise - the baby was PIG's sister, not him. But, he was the same size at the time.
