Very simple and clean. I like the way you have set up the frames for easy transition between pages. I'm in the proccess of building something very similar - white background, simple layout, easy navigation.
I had taken up the idea of using Flash or Java to animate with fade-ins or something a little more sophisticated, but changed my mind. People want to see your images in a straight-foreward and easily accessible format. Your site delivers that.

Nice, clean and easy to use.
sometimes website can get that bitty to use you end up looking for another one.
Just a question - did you create this ine or did you get someone else to do it for you - the reason I ask is that I would like to set one up for myself and wondered if anyone can help.
Thanks in advance.

How did you put those frames in in MX? What is the command? I'm not very proficient with MX yet. FrontPage seems so much more intuitive, but not nearly as flexible as Dreamweaver. I know how to use that a bit, but can't figure out the frames.

i've been using iFrames a lot lately...it is frame style functionality but a bit easier since rather than having a page as the source page building the frame you simply insert a frame call into to page you want it on.
This page here the gallery that scrolls is a seperate document. super easy to implement and update.
code inserted into the normal page goes like this:
photoshop exports galleries as normal frames...easy to grab one of those and then check out how it works also. I usually code frame pages by hand.

I can do that in FrontPage, (frame cells) but they are not very flexible. The seperate page frames that Peter uses are very flexible and when the page goes to a link within the site the transition is smoother because only part of what the viewer sees actualy changes.
I guess I can study the HTML on his site and see how they are constructed. I do like that though.

Mainly what I'm trying to figure out is how to build a template or use frames with no visable borders. Peter?
I'm looking at your HTML and except for the positioning of the frames (my template is divided horizontaly) I can't see much different. How do you make the borders between the frames not show?

I figured it out. I built the template in MX and opened it in FrontPage where I know how to edit better. I have all of the forms already built. Now I can just paste them into the frames and start to hyperlink. The hard part is sellecting what images I will use in the galleries and formating them. Thanks.

I wasn't trying to hi-jack your thread, it's just I'm working on one at the moment. I like your site layout and the images seem well chosen.

pm? I'll have to check my mail. I pretty much figured it out as I stated earlier. It's not really that hard, just takes some playing with. I have the index page and the links page completed. Everything else is just cloneing pages and adding images and hyperlinks. Deciding on how to set up the first page is what always seems to stump me. Thanks.

one more thing...search engines still don't really handle frame sites very well, has been a problem ever since the frame standard was introduced in html. We [web developers of the mid 90's] always waited for it to get better. It didn't.
If you want to be visible in the search engines, you do need to have text that is text rather than image, and make sure that all of your buttons and images have "alt" tags that say what they are.
And put your name or whatever in the title, "Untitled Document" as a page title looks bad.
If you are only worried about people looking at the site because they have been referred to it then don't worry about search engines. As a portfolio site an advertising student can send out to potential employers, internships, etc, it's already a good example of your visual style.

phil thanks for the comments, yeah ill get rid of that untitled problem. I just can't get any html text I think looks complimentary, so I decided to sacrifice the search engine compatability, because yeah most people will probably be referred to it. Thanks again. |
