I have not entered a challenge in a few months, but was inspired to do the "High Contrast". Loaded up my daughter and my camera, headed out to White Sands and took several nice shots. As I was looking on my computer I noticed that almost all of my shots had a date of 01/01/2003.
I ALWAYS check the date before shooting. and it was right. My batteries died after the first two shots, but the date is supposed to hold through a battery change. Evidently, it did not this time.
I started to go back out, but the clouds had rolled in and the bright sunshine that makes for such good high contrast was gone for the rest of the day.
Anyway, here are the two shots I would have been choosing between for the challenge.
I have no one but myself to blame.

These are both great but I like the one with the shells most ... maybe if you would have dust the sand of all aff the sheels then it would have been even better but sorry that you cant submit this... but then maybe I have more chance ;) so thank you |

The date will only remain through a battery change if the tiny circle battery which is also in the camera has power to keep it set. After a while, this battery will also need to be replaced or the camera has no power to keep the date when the main battery is being swapped.

I've found that the settings hold during a normal, rapid battery change, but that if you leave the batteries out for a couple of minutes, the date will reset, regardless of the condition of the internal battery. |

Olympus' do not hold date very well. I can attest to this. :(

As can I -- a good solid jarring will cause it to reset. Mine has done that on a number of occassions.

That is such a bummer, I like the shell shot. I think it would have possibly scored higher because it won't be a standard image, I know I would like to something different.

I donno about the rest of the cams, but my Nikon 5700 and my 20D have both held date through an overnight, batteryless state while charging as I slept.

An Olympus C series will not. I would bet 2/3 of the images ever taken with it could have been DQ'd for having a 1/1/2003 date.

I've had the camera for more than two years now and have not had this problem before. I'll keep aneye on it and see if it happens again. Maybe I need to get it repaired. Put that 5-year extended warranty to work.
