Robt.

Bear - you know i have a great deal of respect for you, but this individual does not mean anything in the nicest possible way. He has belittled my intregrity, called those who do take the time to leave comments critical, stated that my comments are neither helpful or heeded, told me i wasnt an artists and expressed pity for the children i freely give my time to so they can pursue artistic endevors, because they have me supervising them.
None of this was called for. I have asked him twice to take to private, which he has refused to do. He has been extremely disrespectful in my opinion, and i am not the sort of person that accepts a adult behaving in such a manner.

lol.. I just looked through the shoe challenge, and I saw 5 images that I would give above 3, and they would get between 7 and 9, the rest would get 1, 2 and 3.

this is without a doubt the worst challenge I have ever seen on dpc...

If I like to 'push buttons' I do it in public at least, but it is concerning that there such a negativity to some people here and yes mesmeraj I am concerned that you find a teacher who destroys work as deserving of respect.

Yeah. But in this case you have been requested not to continue these public jabs and invited to take your objections to a private level.

If you were actually adding to the conversation, I would be of a different opinion. As it is, everytime you post you lose a bit more of my respect.

(I'm sure you don't give a rat's *ss about my respect or opinion, so don't even bother saying so--you might consider that others may see you the same way.)

hmm.. all this talk about who is an artist and who is not...

I am an artschool graduate but still I do not call myself an artist out of respect for true artists, and I think I can truly say there are only a handful of people here on DPC that can call themselfs artists.. or at least art photographers, true artists are people like Ansel Adams, Bresson, Andy Warhol, and a few others.. I know warhol is not considered an artist by many, but I like some of his work.

and when it comes to other forms of art.. then in sculptures it's Bernini, in paintings it's Caravaggio, in Design it's DaVinci, in Architecture it's Gaudi, in Music it's Bethoven

when you think you compare to one of these artists, then you can call your self an artist ;)

and for a man that can't even break the 6.0 barrier here on DPC is NOT an artist in photography !

Did you say Artist or Fartist? Cause I am not an Artist. ;-p

Dan - what you refer to as an artist, i refer to as a master.
To me, an artist is a person who spends most of thier day making art. Just like a motorist is a person who driver a motor vechicle. If my only artistic expression was through photos, i would call myself a photographer, but it is not, so artist fits me better.

I compare myself with masters works every day - thats how you learn. I study thier work, look at my own and acknowledge the difference. I will never be as audacious to say compare to a master however.

But how you and i define artists, though both with thier merits, is irrelevent, because the word was only used in an attempt to mock and belittle.

back to comments now though ;)
