I have work torn up by great metors and artist, because it wasnt good enough. I am close friends with an art professor that will smash your pottery if you do a crappy job of it. The only way you learn form your mistakes is to acknowledge them, admit what you have done is crap and set out to do something better.

How sad for them and you...........

no it isnt sad, it is wonderful. It made me a better artist, as it did them.

I don't throw myself a great pity party and tell people they should only utter sweet nothings to me because im not yellow-bellied.

Actually, it was on my laptop. We went to African Lion Safari last weekend. I just had to wait for the boss to stop bugging me. Work gets in the way sometimes, what a pain.

Hmmmm......you define yourself as antist but really, maybe a photographer, but an artist? What you define as constructive criticism is really 'abuse'!

yes! by my defination mesmeraj is an artist! not just a photographer but an artist. photography is one of many things she does and she is wonderful at all of them. I have met her IRL and have seen much of her work. I just wish i was 1/2 as talented as she is!

edit to add: I welcome all of her critiques. they are detailed and let me know what EXACTLY to work on and i happen to like that it is not sugar coated. I am here to learn not to have my head patted like a four year old for being a good girl. I am grown and i WANT to improve my techniques and mesmeraj tells me what i want to know and it is never given in even a hurtful way. if you cant take knowing what is wrong with your photo you have no bizz what so ever on a LEARNING site!

yeh the painting, sculptures, etching, monos, linos etc they are all just things i fart out my butt. Didnt i tell you to take it to PM or SC if you wanted to make it personal.
And funny, i just got a bunch of PM's and emails thanking me for my comments. Yup, youre the only one whining and now making personal attacks.
If it is abuse, i will be disciplined by SC, and have my account suppended. Just go away.

I think he's referring to the teacher(s) you referenced, who'd smash pottery and tear up students' work. For some people, yes, that's abusive teaching. I don't think anyone has accused YOU of abusive teaching.

Peace :-)
