The bad news is...I just got laid off.
The good news is...I got plenty of free time now!
The bad news is...can't get those 2 lenses I've been eyeing.
The good news is...my membership is still good for about 6 more months!

It was a crappy job I hated anyway. After 10 years I was so ready to call it quits. But they gave me 60 paid days so I'm not crying! I just hate my manager for being such a coward. He called after work hours on his cell phone and said my exit interview would be with his boss, an old friend of mine. Now to find a job that pays a lot that only requires me to put in about 2 hours a day and allows me time to edit and browse DPC...

Ah well, such is life. Good think I'm an optimist. Otherwise I'd be piss drunk by now. ;)

Sorry to hear you got laid off. Sometimes that works out to be a blessing in disguise though - hopefully it'll work out that way for you.

I wouldn't worry too much if I were you. You'll probably find a better job that pays more money. Just don't spend ALL of your free time taking pics. Those door-to-door job salesmen are few and far between. :)

Good luck!

Thanks you all!
Rex, I was thinking of doing that, but I wanted to wait until January. Guess I could start a couple months early... :)
I'm most upset about not getting those lenses last month when I had the chance. :(

Sorry to hear. Enjoy a little time off and good luck with finding your next (better) job. Never mind about the lenses. You do pretty well with what you've already got :)

I know how ya feel and about equipment, I had turn of luck also, but mine was for better health over toys.

Well lucky for you I have figured out the perfect job for you and from my understanding the pay isn't bad either. You need to go down to your local post office and apply for a job there. Not only will you start earily but also be done before you've completed 8hrs. Your a shoe in if you have any weapons training at all. Hell they might even make you a supervisor or training officer.

Joezl, thank you - I needed that!
Spurs, hope all is going well and you're getting better!
Notonline, believe it or not, I was thinking along the same lines - and they have openings!
Queenbeez, I may take you up on that, as long as it isn't in the computer business!
Suemack, thanks! don't think I'll make any money but its that whole gotta try at least once thing...

I'm off to see the wizard...I know they're expecting tears or anger (that's why there sending me to the big boss) but mentally I quit two years ago.
I'm free! I'm free!

When the flag at the post office is at half mast you know they are hiring. Good luck and lock and load.

that really sucks (about the lenses, not the crappy job...lol). i'm sorry to hear it.

BUT, on the flip side, i'm the kind of person that totally needs a kick in the pants to move into something new. when i got shitcanned ("laid off" is such a wimpy way of putting it...), i wallowed around for a while (hey...i earned it!) and then came back roaring. in retrospect, it was one of the best things ever to happen to me.

chin up...you're gonna be great! :)

I don't know about paying a lot, but I get paid $10.75 to drive a school bus. I only work five hours a day (and I have one of the longer trips).

School bus drivers should get special medals or something.
