A bank branch is a bank that is NOT the head office. IE. you'd see a branch of a bank in a mall/plaza etc.

In America many institutions have "branches"; a city will have a main library downtown, for example, a very large one, then many "branch libraries" in the various communities, of varying sizes. The metaphor is of a tree or a bush; the main library (or bank) is the trunk, and the smaller, local offshoots of it are the branches.

Your fingers or even limbs are branches...
Wrinkle lines, crow's feet near your eyes...

I'd say this is wide open...

ROFLMAO!!!!! You think!!! Even as open as this challenge appears to be, I'm sure there will be comments on "does not meet challenge".

Yes as sad as it is, I'd imagine if you don't have somes leaves growing off something you will score low. Most people will associate branches with tress, shrubs and bushes.

A tree branch, a bank branch, a metaphorical branch.

I have two great ideas for this challenge. The first is impossible for me to realize without photoshopping it to death, the second will be incredibly tricky, but I've had it in mind for a long time and it will be fun to do.

This is excellent theme, but I don't like that it's in the middle of summer... tree branches are beautiful during winter... If it was winter I would go out and reshoot this one...

What do you think, would this one be able to come close to ribbon?

In my opinion NO it wouldn't come close to ribbon. The image is OK but not 'SPECIAL' and to ribbon it needs WOW.
What could be better - well for a start I would like to see the base of the building, I hate it when the image looks up at a building and only shows the top half. It needs to be anchored in some way, and as it is it 'floats' but the viewers imagination has to work to fill in whats not shown.
I do like the silhouette feel though thats good.
Go work on the composition is my advice.

You'd get an 8-9 from me - depending on how well it does compared to the other images I vote high.

I thought this would be a great photo for the challenge, Titled - Stick together or branch out. As it was the first chanllenge I have entered I re read the rules and guess what. I took the photo only days BEFORE the challenge started. lol.

laytardel... to insert link, click on "Insert thumbnail link to site image" and simply type in the image id# (last part of the URL)
09/02/2005 10:04:35 AM · #21
Thanks for that. I clicked on insert image not thumbnail. Doh.
I appreciate you fixing it for me.

yes it did help. I probably would have croped it if I could have entered it, but might not have thought of black and white. I will give it a go. Thanks.
