I'm getting very nice comments, but my score hangs around the 4.9-5.0 range. Not doing much better with my D&L entry.

Oh well . . . . . .

Hope you guys who are speed commenting aren't leaving the quality out of your answers, remember commenting is suppose to help us improve our pictures. Saying,"that's funny" is ok, if you don't have any other helpful advice, but if you do have good advice, please take time to share. Besides all that I just said, speed commenting sounds like fun and I wish I had time to join you. But i have been neglecting my household duties, so I must go for now, but I'll be back.

By the Way, does anybody else know besides me that there is a dead time around 4:00 in the morning Eastern Standard time when no one is voting, and I believe that me an Rikki11 and a bunch of anon. guest are about the only ones here holding down the fort? Not that anyone cares, just had to say that somewhere. I'm thinking, we may be the trolls. scratching behind my pointed ears..
09/01/2005 01:05:28 AM · #209
what is speed commenting???
"yes" "cool" "Beautiful" "funny" (from the first page of your recent comments)
I'm sorry pixie, but you have been complaing a lot about comments - try giving out some meaningful ones, you will actually learn a lot more from critiquing another work than you ever expected.

Vying for the brown? It'll go up. Your image can't be that bad to deserve such a low score. I hope the comments are worthwhile and helpful.

Hey Brad. You had an Olympus last night. Won the lottery?

I believe you took what I said as harsh critism when it wasn't meant to be, I love someone commenting on my picture even if it is just one word because it shows me they looked at it and cared enough to make a reply good or bad. I haven't been "complaining" that I have been getting all kinds of bad comments even when I got several, all I was saying is I hope if someone has some helpful input that they will give it, and I believe I have heard other people here ask for the same thing.

As for my comments, I have made some short ones to show my appreciation for the photo, if I had anything constructive to add to the comment that I thought would actually help someone I certainly would speak up, but I don't feel my skill level in certain areas is enough to be trying to instruct someone who has probably been at it longer than I have. I didn't mean to ruffle feathers, I was just hoping that if someone had some good advice they would take the time to give it and not just hurry and type something in order to be the first one done commenting.I think everyone here would like the same consideration. If that offends you, I apologize. I did say that speed commenting sounded like fun and I would join in if I had time right now , but maybe you didn't see that part.

EDIT: or is it possible that you missed the post about the challenge to see who could get done commenting the fastest in this thread ? That's what I was referring to, not the recent comments that had been made, but the game that was about to start. I was just asking them not to forget to try to help someone along the way. Is this offensive? It's not meant to be. I thought we were amongst friends.

For the record if any one cares, At least one of the comments I made on that first page was on a photo of a sunset that was in the Dairy challenge, I said it was beautiful, I figured they already had a hundred comments that said it didn't meet the challenge and if they accidentally submitted it, I didn't think me mentioning it again was going to be of any help. Another one was of a cow eating grass, nice photo, but not too much to say about that that I thought would help. The same with the rest of the comments that were mentioned. The first comment before those that I was not quoted on was " this looks out of focus " or something like that because it did and it was just spilt milk, not much else to talk about there. And the comment directly after that that I was not quoted on was "I thought I already commented on this photo, so if it shows up that I did, let me know, might be a gliche. I rellay like the way you captured this. Good lighting and focus. could possibly sell for stock?" so if I have something I feel is constructive, I say it.
Just for the record.

Pixie honey, you read WAY too much into things. Its a game doll.
Everyone suffers from the monitor problem - my nude looks sepia on my screen and red on my husbands. We all are aware of it, and factor it in.
People don't comment on the low scoring photos, because unfortunately, most people are not like you, wanting to hear where they went wrong. Anyone here who gives critique style comments on a regular basis, particularly in an open challenge has recieved some really lewd, crude and down right rotton PMs abusing them for pointing out an image if out of focus or something of equal merrit. This makes people reluctant to comment.
Many people here, and i have noticed a lot of the indepth commentors, sort thier images first, then come back to comment on a 2nd viewing - you won't get to many comments in the first day or two, particularly in a large challenge. I only just got done sorting an hour or two ago.
I wasn't meaning to be a bitch or was in the least annoyed with you, just, don't sweat the small stuff, you know. Comments will come, and if they don't PM me after the challenge and i'll give you a crit with the my critque club cap on (unoffically).
My only point was, the sit is much more educational and benifical if you comment, rather than worry about how others are commenting - most of us that hang out on these board, we have no life lol.

I felt you were reading way too much into what I said and that there were just as many post from other people saying they wish people would comment.

I don't know why you are mentioning the monitor thing here, I got over that awhile back, Rikki and Dave helped me out on that cause it was all new to me.

As for rotten comments, if I was doing way too much complaining about comments as you put it, I would have been all to eager to let someone have it over that remark I received on my Shoes entry, but I haven't even told anyone what was said, just that I thought it was off color, meaning that it was somewhat lewd.

Anyway------ I am all for dropping this and getting back to voting, how bout you?

Well - I'm just under a 5 which is OK for a first timer I guess, but heck - 139 votes and not a single comment!
Some people MUST have hit the "3" button for this to be an average of 4.8, so where's the comments?

I can understand why you all get so frustrated with the voting process now...

Still sucking bottom.LOL, Al they tell me comments will come in due time. Some people vote all first and come back thru and comment, since their are so many entries this method will take awhile to show up. We must be patient. It does fill almost like an anti-climax when you are all hiped up about your photo and can't wait to hear how someone else feels about it and then you get nothing... Time will tell.

No more update button for me tonight (or this morning I mean) this troll is crawling back under the bridge to sleep --at least for about an hour.

yeh i think the whole voting concept of this place sucks anyway...i mean your photo would actually have to not meet the challenge or be CRAP to get a 3 from me. if its dull and doesnt have good quality i still give it a 4. everyone gets a 5 or above if it MTC and is in good taste.
