And all gas stations has lines like seen back in the 70's. Some backed up 1/4 mile in fears of gas shortages.

You all have gas? We're out.

And anyone coming back into the Mobile/Pascagoula area and all points west within 100 miles of the coast, bring all the gas you will need with you or stay where you are until things get better. There is NO gas.

I just emailed this to the president.

Travis

you better keep an eye on your trash at your home and watch what you say on the phone.

Back in 1996 my ex-wife emailed the vice-president (gore) about something. 2 days later I am out in the back yard with the dog for his morning "business trip" and I hear some noise out front. I dont think anything of it. Well about an hour later when I go to leave for work I notice my trash can is not out on the curb. I check the garage and its not in there. I think for a bit an do remember putting the trash out the night before as it was trash day the next day.

Finally I put 2 and 2 together - send an angry email to the vice president and your trash get taken and you get followed. I had 2 cars follow me for 2 days, my wife did not notice any cars following her. But I took random trips to places I never go and sorta out of the way to confirm and the same 2 cars were following me.

Call me crazy if you will, but its true

This all should effectively put GM and its fleet of Hummers out of business.

OK now I am confused!

1.This morning avg gas here was $2.599/gallon.

2.At 4:45pm the BP stations was changing prices to $3.209/gal.

3.Wife got home from work around 6:00 went to the spectrum. $2.799/gal.

4.Just went by the BP stations that had went to $3.209/gal. just before 5:00pm and now they have DROPPED to $2.809/gal and $2.909/gal.

5.On the way home I just went by the spectrum that I gassed up at 6:00pm @ $2.799/gal. is now $3.099/gal.

???????????
Is it panic, rumors that made the price jump, or PRICE gouging?

The inconsistencies does make one wonder.

At least you all have gas to buy.

This evening I saw two stations directly across the street from each other charging 2.79 and 3.49. And this in an industry that, at least nominally, has competitive pressures at work to keep pricing honest.

US galon is 3.78541 Liters we pay 1,10 euro / liter here. Your gas sounds cheap to me.

Our gas is still cheap compared to most of the rest of the world. But are you experiencing increases of about 10% to 20% each day? with no end in sight?

There were times like that here too. I'm sure it will settle soon.

I found an interesting article that explains (if true) why gas prices in the US is lower than the gas prices in the UK and other Europe countries.

I found it to be interesting. Here is the link

You all have gas. Stop bitchin. I will take off work until next week. If we get gas in then I will get to go back. Most people in the region are much worse off then I am. There are people actually camped out and living on the sides of the interstate and at gas stations. I saw a pathetic stranded motorist outside of Mobile Tuesday walking down the side of the highway with a gas can. The nearest gas staion with gas was at least 50 miles away. That was Tuesday. Today there won't be any till you get into Georgia and you will have to wait in line there.

Interesting, but I don't know. I think we are almost done with the fosil fuel. It is normal for tha last drops to become luxury. Preety soon we will fly like the jetsons. As a kid I was sure we will do that in the 2k's. It will be cool!

This is so weird.

I read this thread and got all scared, and left to go see what prices were at, and they haven't gone up here in Los Angeles.

Earlier today I saw a gas truck at a 76 station too.

The Governor of Georgia issued a statment today about the prosecution of price gougers. That should be the main reason you saw the price drop again in your area.

I agree ... The higher the prices go, the more feasable it becomes to do the research and bring the 'alternative' energy sources up to the standard we demand from the establised fossil fuels.

The renewable energy sources have been the only sane path for a long time -- it just takes a bit of a push to break out of the rut of an established way of doing things.

I don't drive my car -- I walk to where I want to be. I have for years -- not because of any fuel conservation or anything like that, but because I like to walk. I won't be feeling the effect of the gas prices going up until it starts drastically affecting everything else I buy; but that, I think, is a ways off.

UK taxation of petrol:

In 1993, in one of the few environmentally responsible actions that the Tory government ever undertook, the then chancellor of the exchequer, Kenneth Clarke, brought in the fuel duty escalator, which automatically raised fuel duty above the level of inflation each year. Its purpose, apart from being a nice little earner for the Treasury, was to increase the cost of fuel to reflect the true environmental cost of motoring.

This lasted until 2000, when increases in the cost of oil combined with increased duty, led to fuel protests and the blockading of fuel depots in protest. We had as little petrol as nsbca7 has now!

We are seeing the same fuel increases in the UK as are being felt in the US, but because the cost of oil is less than a third of the pump price, it is dampened proportionately.

My best friend lives in Lawrence, KS and she said it's $2.99 there and it's only .20cents cheaper here.
