was reading the Katrina thread here:
DPC Katrina thread
and looking at the initial 3 photos, it made me think maybe its about time we have some sort of "photo journalism" or news-worthy photo challenge? it would be refreshing after so many rounds of... urm... norm challenges? what do you think?

That kind of requires there to be equally newsworthy events readily available within the week of the contest, all over the world...

If someone felt slighted that nothing newsworthy was happening in thier hometown during the duration of the challenge, they could always set fire to a few houses or shoot up a post office.

(Edit: just kidding!)

I think it would be a great idea. You can really choose a subject and make a story of it. Does not have to be a disaster to be news worthy.

of course it doesnt have to be disaster themed :) really hope this makes it as the next challenge! I guess the real fun in this challenge is that you would have to make use of existing/natural lighting and of course, natural settings without too many options to perform set-ups. maybe this is also the answer for the recently "too DPC-like photographs" some of you were talking about.

I really hope it gets chosen. I already have a good idea for my subject.
