Hi Everyone,

First post! I have been into 35mm photography for many, many years with my Minolta 800si SLR. I bought a point-and-shoot digicam but don't like it one bit for anything other than parties.

How is the Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D? I can use the same lenses i have for my 800si and my nice external flash. But if there is a big difference between cameras, i would rather get the best camera and spend the extra on new lenses and external flash. I'm also looking at the Cannon Rebel 350xt and Nikon 50D. What do you guys think?

I doubt you'll find many people with the 5D yet, it's barely just hit the shops. I love my 7D though, and can't see why the 5D shouldn't be a winner.

Well a few people have bought it and i've seen the photos. I love the way the camera is setup just like my 35mm Minolta SLR. Looks like i'm going to order once i confirm that my Minolta AF/Maxxum lenses will work with it. Does anyone know this off the top of their head?

Well, I've not seen any on DPC.
All Minolta AF lenses will work.

The camera isn't listed on DPC, which suggests to me that nobody here has bought one yet.
