I noticed that my upcoming submission for High Contrast has some really strange artifact on the thumbnail only (like roiling heat waves on a solid area) Anybody with any ideas about possible fixes? |

Did you upload another copy? If so refresh your browser.

Sounds like it could be a moire pattern emerging from your image when resized. When you scale it down in your editing program, does the same artifact appear?
Sounds like it would be worth alerting the SC to take a look, but honestly, I don't think it would affect voting since everyone votes on the image page, not the thumb. |

No, the artifact doesn't show up with zooming out in PS. It isn't a typical moire if that's what it is. I'm only familiar with straight lines or a parallel set of lines which curve. This is much more dynamic and uneven. |

Too bad you can't show us until after the challenge. I'm damned curious now!
See who's online and send a PM or two.

If it's very red, that can happen - been there, done that.
May need SC to manually edit the thumb.

We don't have any ability to re-upload a thumbnail, so I'm afraid that as far as I'm aware, you'll need to live with what it renders.
Like Brad said, a lot of red will indeed result in some weirdness with the thumbnails... just the nature of .jpgs, I'm afraid.

well, I'm not too concerned if that's the case. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my photo and somehow I wasn't seeing the same on the real image because I was viewing on a laptop.
OK, I guess we all know I'm submitting a picture with red in it. My cover is blown... |

Only in virtual life.
In real life he's about as sharp as a bowling ball...
