If you enter the coupon code that's listed on the slickdeals site, which is what coolhar was referring to, it's not misinformation. |

I did now, although it was edited after I posted mine. The coupon seemed to work fine for me when I did it, which was right before I posted. |

Using the PriceGrabber link from the dpc 20D page returns 41 merchants selling a new 20D body only from $1221.95, less S&H.

When I bought my 20D I went to a local camera store and quoted them exactly what I could get it for online, to the penny including S&H, and asked them to match it. They didn't, but they came down to where the difference was small enough that I was happy to pay it and walk out of the store with my new cam in hand. Questioning prices is just a part of being a smart consumer. |
I have no problem if your saying you would like to buy my 20D and would like to make an offer.
I have a hunch that the camera stores reaction would be different if you told a customer who was getting ready to buy the camera, that they could get it cheaper online or at one of his competitors.

There's just way too much aggression on this thread. I'm checking out some political rant for relief. phew.
Isn't it against TOS to tell someone else to shut up? I mean...

It may be only an opinion based on my personal experience, but don't you think that almost all of the people who are going to go into a camera store and plunk down $1500 or more for a digital camera know that they can get it online for a cheaper price? The guys working behind the counter certainly do.

B&H price for the two items is $1470.00. MeThos has offered $1350 or best offer for a nearly-new set. Seems reasonable enough to me. Certainly not a big enough discrepancy from marketplace reality to warrant the price sniping.
From where I'm sitting, he's offered the community a crack at it before he lists it up on e-bay, and I think that's great. I get mildly (very mildly) peeved when others post up a camera for sale that's already listed on e-bay. To what end? Why announce it here at all if you're not willing to dicker with your fellow DPCers? MeThos seems to be willing to do just that.

The point is, IF YOUR NOT INTERESTED, THEN BUT OUT!! (i just used the caps for fun.) It's no big deal. I'll go sell it on ebay and give some complete stranger a deal. Heaven try to help out someone who you might get to here back or see their work. sheesh.

To drive traffic to your auction listing in hopes that the price will be bid up higher? I don't understand why you would have a problem with that. I find it pretty legit.

That doesn't bother me so much but I wish they'd put "for auction" in the title instead of "for sale." There's a difference. |

As I said, "mildly" peeved. If I were wanting to sell something camera-related, I'd determine a fair price for it and offer it to my freinds first. If none of themw anted it, THEN I'd list it on e-bay. Once it's on e-bay, we're competing with the world. Nothing wrong witht hat of course.
I'm with karmat; If it's already listed, title the thread "Auction Running" or something. I'd be more likely to bid on YOUR camera than some stranger's camera, for sure. So I guess that asnwers my own question, "To what end?" Sorry...

Why do you equate selling on Ebay with giving someone a deal? When you say "give someone a deal" most people would think you meant selling it at a price less than it's actual value.
And please post a link here to your listing so anyone interested can bid on it.

I'm really not sure what your problem is about this. "OBO" is the deal part. The only way I know ( I'm sure you have a better way) for pricing something used, is to go and search eaby for the going rates.
