Hello DPC world. =o I was told this is the folder that best fits critique requests (though I see tons of them in Critique Club). I was wondering if anyone was bored and interested in critiqing some waterfall shots I took up in MT.

Feel free :)

I like this one the best. You can get a sense of scale with the large pine trees in the background. The low cloud (or fog) ceiling adds some drama. Another thing I like is the composition, the way the waterfall cuts across the image diagonally and the trees in the foreground right add more depth and dimension. Overall - very nice!

Excellent, thx guys. =) I really want to enhance my skills and I'm starting to believe that landscape/nature photography is my current favorite subject.

If you saw my question about cropping, how do you handle your cropping? Crop before border? Preset image size crop? (8x10) Sizing image after adding border? Just curious as to how others do this AND want to print them.

One of my comments addressed that issue: "I never worry about so-called "printable ratios"; I make the image be the best it can be and worry about all that later. You can always create a print file that inludes white borders to regularize it for a generic print service like DOC."

I'll usually keep a "full size" copy of any image that I set up as a print. Then if I need to go back I can always modify the crop a bit if I need to.

I see, so basically I might be worrying a little too much about cropping than I really need to. ;) Good tip Bear, worry about the photo first. I will keep that in mind.

Very much so. IMO the "standard crop" is a form of visual tyranny...

Thanks again! =) It is always helpful to have multiple eyes on the same shots. Which is why DPC is a wonderful site! Some day I plan on breaking that 6.5 avg barrier! ;)
