My boyfriend really likes this picture of his car and has been begging me to post it. I know the quality sucks, but he's got a lot of comments on it from his friends and the car is cool, so what are ya gonna do? Here it is.

Anybody want to show me theirs?

Wow, I didn't know there was even such a thing as impala racing. Learn something new everyday. Nice angle on the shot BTW.

Thanks, thought everybody was asleep out there. Impala people have a club called ISSCA, Impala Supersport Club of America. You would not believe how many people stop us and ask us about this car. They especially love the sound of it. It's my boyfriend's pride and joy. LOL., I have learned not to be jealous, I actually love it to and won't hear of selling it.

I don't know why I like this shot , I just do. I am glad to hear someone else thinks it looks good.

I had me a 63 Cheby Impala, it was a charp ride with 11:1 Pop ups in the ol 283 with some hooker headers and thrush glass paks...man I miss that ride...Wait...Regular Gas 3 bucks a gallon...maybe I don't miss it that much...

Anyways... the origial shot is interesting...here comes that honesty part...I am not a fan of Selective Desat but it kind of works for me here. But the big thing that I am wrestling with is the grain (noise). It's there...can't tell if it may be over sharpened bringing out the spots, or sharpened and then NI'd making is mushy in areas. It is almost like this was shot in the rain...but the ground is not wet. Could be just the Resize for the web but for me it appears sharp in places and soft in other.

Just my thoughts...

Didn't they come with a z06 corvette 350ci engine or something for a few years there? Quite an impressive car.

ah just another wimpy impy....tell him to get a real car ;) j/k

I was in to drag racing a few years ago and we would have a monthly car club bash. Different car clubs from around the houston area would cather at the 1/8th mile track for lots of fun and racing.

in Houston the impy club was HAIL (Houston Area Impala Lovers). They had some nice cars and some were very fast and really tricked out.

No the impy like posted above did not have the Z06 motor as it was not made way back then. But the Impy did have the LT1 which first came out in the vet, then in the F-body (camaro and firebird). The LT1 is a very strong engine and could handle a LOT of horse power, but since the impy was very heavy it took a lot more power to make em move fast. I had only been beat by a few impy's.

It came with a corvette LT1 , but it's tricked out.

thanks guys for the photo critique, but I knew the desaturated one was noisey, we were just playing around with a badly shot photo, but still the racing guys seem to like it, so when someone likes it, it's always a good thing.

That's not an Impala, this is an Impala.
Runs high 7's low 8's @ about 180mph on 250 shots of nitrous.

I had the LT1 350ci in my 95 Camaro Z-28. It had a 6 speed and with the 305 stock HP...that car was fast. My first 2 brand new cars were Z-28's. I wish I still had them today.

Finally someone else shows a photo, makes me wonder if a challenge photo on cars would go over or not. By the way, that impala is not streetable. We drive ours everywhere--from one gas station to another, and it still runs 12's in a 1/4 mile.

It's street legal plates and all
Disconnect nitrous, change back to the street tires and off ya go. It runs on pump gas

Thanks clubjuggle for changing to a link. Sorry bout the size thing

We took NOS off for now. I'm sure it will find it's way back on someday.
By the way, I checked out your timecapsule challenge photo. Nice. That yours too?

No, I actually drive a 03 HEMI Ram 1500 truck. That pic was taken at the dealership one night after work. Not really a FORD guy but they are nice cars

But mostly it runs on turbo testosterone, I guess. :-)

Impressive. Do you take many Drag strip photos? I am finding my camera to be a little slow for this, to capture the exact moment( or maybe its me?) Any tips.

P.S. LOL on the "turbo testosterone" I find that that stuff flows freely whenever there is a motor of any kind around.

Focus on the tree. On a PRO .4 release the shutter as soon as all the lights turn yellow. On a .5 tree release the shutter on the 3rd yellow light. Sometimes I have one eye on the tree and one in the view finder LOL.
Here are some from the last race I went to.

Here's a couple where you can actually see the tires buckling on the yellow light
