HELP! Vicious roommate throws mom and daughter out on street
So I live(d) with this crazy bitch who thinks everyone in her life is supposed to "take care of her". Too bad for her I already have a three year old daughter. This week she up and decided she didn't want my daughter and I to live in our townhouse anymore and gave us three days to move out. So aside from working a full time job and being a single mom I now have to find a place to live and pull a whole bunch of money out of my butt to do it. I'm not one to ask for charity but desperate times call for desperate measures and I need a home for my daughter ASAP. If anyone wants to make a small donation to my paypal account any little bit would be greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps. Just go to paypal.com and the email address is arismom929@hotmail.com
this is her daughter

Also ... if anyone buys any of my prints from now until October 31st all my earnings will go to helping my friend have money for a deposit for a new place to live - thanks everyone!
I just moved myself - so i dont have any money to lend her - but this way you get a print and help a friend in need
thanks

| She should contact the local housing authority. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, which it sounds like there are none (like she is a bad tenant, etc.) I don't think her roommate can throw her out in 3 days. I believe more notice than that is required. Her roommate is not an eviction service, just another tenant. |

If you can can you please update the situation. Monetarily, I only get paid once a month and the end of the month is nearing. But I would be interested to know if she got any help from local housing authority or landlord. I talked to a lawyer friend of mine today to see what he thought (just happened to have lunch with him) and he said 3 days is not enough notice - 2 weeks is usually minimum unless eviction proceedings are in place. But that is in MA. Also he said with a child, she would have a good footing in court for damages against the roommate - lost rent, moving expenses, child care expenses, storage, etc, if she could prove she was booted unfairly and with malice. But then again that is in western MA.

I'm not a lawyer or anything, but it was always my understanding that especially with children involved, it legally took at LEAST 30 days to do an eviction, for any reason. Also, have your friend check with her county offices, I know a lot of places have lots of different programs of assistance that could possibly help her in this situation.

| I'm guessing that the legalities of all of this are going to depend a bit on what the lease said, assuming there was one. |

hey everyone - thanks for your input .. well to bring everyone up to speed - she went home and her "roomate" changed the locks ... so she called the police and they said that she was not allowed to do that and she had to give her 30 days notice and the cop also said she could sue for damages ... thats about all i know right now ... she did go and look at a house to rent with her brother today ... and that is looking good - but she is still broke .. so shes just trying any avenue for any monetery amounts ... that's all i know right now ... i'm not too certain about the lease info ... i do know she does get her mail at that location but i dont think she is actually on the lease .. i think her roomate is the only one ... and i guess that would be taken up with the complex ... so thats what i know ... thanks again for reading and all your input

hey all - here is an update if anyone wants to know ... my friend did get approved for a house to rent by September 1st ... now her hurdle is earning some extra money ... the housing complex where she was livin cant really help her because the agreement of her living there was between her and her roomate ... so - that's the story ... she did put a request on ebay - if you do a search for "help mom daughter" the listing will come up - so we shall see
i think this is the link for the listing ...
