Anyone have any tips on how to improve these pictures? Other comments are welcome, too. Thanks!

I would try selective color on both but as layers not on the original. You can also play with the hue/saturation. I would maybe try selections on the various elements and adjust just those to get the correct colors.

I hope this helps.

Applying a simple color correction via Curves is always my first step on a photo like this (and most photos, come to think):

Two clicks in curves, 15 seconds elapsed PS time.

Curves is an Adobe Photoshop adjustment but I think similar features are in some of the other packages as well.

Image.........Image Adjustments.........

Best just to play with it. I find levels a little easier as of now I am a novice at Photoshop. You may want to play with levels first.

I would recommend getting a book to go along with Photoshop or you can find many tutorials on the web for it.

Also, use adjustment layers rather than applying all changes to the original. This allows you to go back and change things very easily.

Thanks! I'm going to play around with curves to begin with. And I also have to get into the selective colours option, I have not yet figured out how that works best.
