So, being the guy I am, I am always looking for opportunity.
If opportunity happens to come calling in the form of taking head shots for actors, both established and up and comming, how much should I charge?
As a lighting tech, I can easily make $350-500 a day. Should I be in the same ballpark?

350-500 seems very steap to me... Nice new camera btw.

If you check some of the modeling and acting sites or forums they have photographers that travel from city to city doing this and they charge $200 + - for a session and generally the Photographer is well known.

You should be in the same ballpark per day - but not per session. If headshots take you an hour to do, divide your $500 by 6 sessions per day max, and you'd charge around $85 plus prints.

a lot of people are throwing away the idea of a sitting fee now. They see it as... if the customer is happy with their work they will buy prints. If not, the customer has no risk. Puts the strain on the photographer's skill.

| Hey Swinging, have you found (or used) any good (and cheap) printers around LA that specializes in printing head shots? I'm in kind of the same boat as you. I got a couple requests for headshots and I want to figure out a package price as opposed to doing a sitting fee plus prints. I found this place online: Printscharmn and they seem pretty cheap, but don't know how the quality is. |

He makes sure all his clients get what they pay for.
Jonathan shoots in a spacious 2000 sq ft. studio, if you need the studio look or has many locations around the studio for outdoor head shots as well.
Jonathan's Head Shot Special is the following:
Basic Package # 1 $200.00
1 look (1 change of clothing)
30 images will be shot.
30 images will be burned to cd.
The CD is burned right after the shoot is completed.
Upgrade Package # 2 $275.00
2 looks (2 change of clothing)
50 images will be shot
50 images will be burned to cd.
The CD is burned right after the shoot is completed.
ALL PACKAGES ARE PAID IN FULL RIGHT AFTER THE SHOOT IN CASH.
(PLEASE NO CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS)

Someone is just giving it a "bump" so that it cycles around again and maybe others will respond.
