FYI... once again, Dell has a great deal on the 350D with kit lens: $739.20 shipped. These tend to sell out quickly, then may be backordered for months. If you're fast (or patient), that's a great price.

That sux I will be ready to buy on September 1st.

So I've heard that Dell is a problem to order from and that there are infinite backorders...do any of you ever actually get your products when you order them at deal prices from Dell?

I think it's a great camera! I'd buy it, rex. I paid that much for just the body w/o the kit lens. :(

With a 8MP Camera how many photos can be held on a 1 GB card?

Need to know if I need to buy a bigger card?

About 290 in JPEG format (much less in RAW).

More than I thought. Now to add the 2GB microdrive for $96. Aren't those slow?

Somewhat slow (30x), fragile, and in the case of Microstor- nonfunctional. A 2Gb Transcend card for $108 shipped will work nicely though. They also have an 80x version for a few dollars more (the difference isn't huge).

So I will stay away from the Microdrive. Thanks for the advice. I will buy once I get home from work.

I think I will buy the 2 year extended warranty though....only $99

Dedicated camera insurance might be cheaper and more comprehensive than an extended warranty. Just a thought.

I have 2 512 mb CF cards, and they can hold up, exactly 64 raw files each!
I've taken over 600 photos, using JPEG, FINE LARGE, on the 2 cards!

A much better deal on an extended warranty would be to purchase a Mack 5-Year International Warranty from B&H for only $90. You don't have to purchase your camera from them, but must purchase the warranty within 30 days of purchasing the camera.

If the insurance thing doesn't pan out tomorrow then I will consider a mack warranty. Thanks for the info.

Although, the price was a little higher (I think $78x), I ordered using the deal that Dell had several weeks ago. Got mine in about a week.

My 350D came from Dell.

I have ordered a ton from Dell - from my laptop, to cameras, lenses, hard drives etc. I have always been pleased with their service.

I ordered my *istDS from Dell. When I ordered it said would ship in 3 - 5 days. When checking status, it said backordered for 3 weeks. I wanted to cancel the order, but since it processed I was unable to. Imagine my surprise when it arrived on my doorstep 8 days later. So, yeah, I'm happy with Dell.

See the great deals thread. Lens bought on 7/22 was suppose to ship today after 3-4 delays. Today I got notice it won't ship until 9/15. If it ships on this new due date I will receive it 2 months after ordering it. Yeah, dell rocks!
