I've noticed gradually over the last couple days my photo's have appeared a bit darker around the edges, mainly the bottom left, and its not lense vignetting.

I decided to try and figure out what it was (as it is also mildly seeming to do colour shifting and blurring the greens a bit)

I took the lense off, and took some photos of white, and they all came up shading identical (with lense on, if I take off the amount of vignetting there used to be, its left looking the same, so it is the sensor)

the only thing I can think of it was one day when I opened my bag my lenses (only things with metal casing) was wet from humidity, I let them dry completely before even powereing anything, but that happened around the time when my photos started degrading.

I have to shoot a wedding in a couple weeks time, and am concerned that it mightn't make it through.
I have been considering a 20D for some time now, but really can't afford one till next year.
this has popped up since.
in the past I've take between 500 and 1500 photos at a wedding.. I've only taken ~150 photos since this has happened..

I made a few adjustment layers to fix the photos I've taken so far (as the issue is almost perfectly consistant) so if it doesn;t get worse, I can keep using it.

the colour shift is about 7 of 255 green channel up in the center, and the brightness shift is about 30 of 255 in the shape of lense vignetting but centered in the top left 3rd of the picture

what do you guys think, dump it, or it shouldn't get worse and just carry a spare (canon g3) with me?

how long have you had it? You could play stupid and send it in to Canon and explain the problem like you did above, but leave the humidity part out. I have sent mine directly to Canon 2x now and got it back both times within 5 days. Do not go through whomever you bought it from though as long as you still have the one year warranty, because they usually screw around and you won't get it back for two weeks. Good luck.

i got it when it was released, so comming up to the 3rd year now.. so warrantys well and truly over.

this is the second 300D, the first one I had went back twice (shutter leaf jamming) and the third time it happened I made a big thing about it and demanded a new one, this is the first issue I've had since.

Screw it! I have seen "Open Item" 300D's at Best Buy here in Amarillo for $599. You could buy one of these at a Best Buy near you I am sure, or get a loan from a buddy to buy a 20D, or you could call Canon to find out how much a new sensor will cost.

Perhaps some mild mold or a little layer of dirt, have you cleaned the sensor yet (wet cleaning method, no brush for this)?

the sensor looks perfectly clean, I have tried cleaning it, but no difference unfortunately.

was just a little concerned.. I'm sure you can understand :(

Just wondering if you've tried another lens? What you're describing sounds optical, not electronic.

I tried with the ef-s 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and the tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 (was not in the bag at the time when the rest got wet) as well as with no lens at all.

I am going to bring it in for a professional clean on monday and see what happens from there, hopefully I just haven;t done an adequate job at cleaning the sensor.
