There are a lot of depending factors.. that this just isn't an easy question to answer.
It's easier if you have some kind of remote, or cable release. Then you can set it to Auto-focus and just use the remote or cable release. You can use whatever aperature you want, depending on your lighting.. If you don't have a remote of some kind, you can always set something up in the place you'll be standing/sitting, focus on it with manual focus, and then set the camera to self-timer, and then go and get in place.
Again, aperature and shutter speed are dependant on lighting. There is no "magic" f-stop. It all depends on what you want.
