I wouldn't vote down because of the choice of the model, nor should anyone else, as everyone has a good light that they can be shown in, it's up to the photographer to find that light, and direct it ento their lens.
I would actually encourage a photographer to shoot a rubenesque body once in a while, it really makes you think about what angles are needed to make the model feel good about the image, and accentuate the positives, and even mask the parts they don't like so much.
My typical model isn't happy with her mid section, So I tend to focus on her shoulders, chest, legs, etc with my shots, as if set up well, can make her actually like the picture, which to me, is a greater victory than any ribbon that you could hand me here. |

As for total nudity versus draped or partial nudity, the term Nude as used in photography does include both in its description. By the definition (below) I would think there is a large number of clothed/not clothed combinations that would all meet the challenge.

Why should this be sad?
Being young and maturing, they will look for erotic imagery anyway. That's just natural. Should they anticipate to view the photos from this challenge, they will only be exposed to tasteful imagery. Wouldn't that be considered a good influence?

I think I understand what you mean Glen/Artyste....that younger men/boys have a preconceived idea of what a woman should or does look like (unclothed) and it's not necessarily correct. Most (not all) young men/boys don't have much ...hhmm....tolerance? (right word?)...for women as they age. Since they're 'grossed' out easily....they don't necessarily see the beauty....and that has a lot to do with age. Men do get better as they get older :) LOL So I'm assuming you think they will vote according to gross factor as opposed to looking at and studying the photo?

I'm thinking anything with overly large breasts and a magazine body will probably get voted much higher simply because they have overly large breasts and a magazine body. lol.
Having said that, I *know* there's a huge component on the site that appreciates all aspects of a challenge such as this, so I just need to stop whining :)

Lets just accept the fact that the voting is going to go a certain way, and we all know what way that is. Lucky him who caters to that style (ribbon winners) but I think there will be some very unique real body pics in this challenge and I look forward to every one and judging it seperately from the rest and on its own merit.
I can tell ya though, What will get high votes from me will be stuff like posing, lighting and intent. Raw nudity with hardcore undertones really don't appeal to me, however I won't vote one low just because of that. Lot's of factors go into a good nude/partial nude.

| Wow this is a ton of info and opinions, I love this site. I am intimidated by all the controversy this subject brings. I think I have an interesting perspective, but we'll see what the people think. It will probably be a love or hate or an oh my what was this crazy person thinking? |

Double-check your submission email, and make sure you submitted to the correct challenge.

| My largest gripe with the challenge is all the trash I have to go through when I'm trying to find some classy nude portraits to get some ideas. It's a mine field out there! |

| Ok guys....now I'm a rubenesque woman. And for this challenge, I got the nerve to do a self portrait. If people are going to comment on my size then don't leave a comment. Look at the photo, look at the composition, the lighting. Don't critique the model, critique the photographer. That's what this site is about. |

I'm wondering about the comments that might come my way. Not that I can't handle them, but with nudes comes the suggestion of what's beyond that I guess. It will be interesting and so let the games begin.
I think it's going to be truly exciting (ok, I didn't mean THAT). I actually had the most fun I've ever had trying to find the right shot to submit. Many hours went into the making of my entry. I hope it does well. If not, I sure had a good time and went "out of the box" of what I ordinarily do. |

I see what you mean now.
Although, I must tell you from experience on DPC that large breasts on a model will not get your photo rated better. In fact, these "overly large breasts" wil get you a lot of 1s in the votes. I know that for fact; I collected a LOT of those one's in previous challenges due to breasts size in my photos.
That said, I understand what you mean that some youngsters may vote on the photos with their own interest (arousal) in mind rather than with the actual quality of the photo.

| Ok, I've changed my entry 3 times now. Shot for this entry 5 days this week and have more choices than I know what to do with. I think I know which will score best, but finally decided to go with the one I like best. Can't wait to share the outtakes! lol Bring on the nuddies!! |

| OK, done.... finally! It's a very "out of the box" shot for me but was tons of fun to shoot. Good luck to everyone who entered this challenge... For us non-professionals, it takes a great deal of courage to "bare it all" for the sake of art!!! |

I am completely blown away by the number of great images in this challenge! Congrats to all of you. There ought to be more ribbons for this one, way to many great shots that will barely make top 10 in this slew of super photography.

This is not necessarily a bad thing. As photographers some of us desire to make money from our images. If the target audience just wants T&A and is not interested in overal technical quality or "art" then that is good to know. If you are ever employed by one of those "mags" then you know what kind of material to shoot for the little horndogs.
I thought this contest was for Nudes though, not porn.
