I just jumped over here from another photography forum, which for the moment will remain nameless, and noticed that whenever anyone posts an image, no matter how out of focus or poorly composed they get comments like The composition here leaves nothing to be desired! Good work! I'm looking forward to many many more. ,
nice joob
and you nailed the compo on that double shot - nice work..

There is no criticism at all. Now if you go to any other part of the furums and say boo, someone will call you a loser or tell you you don't know a thing because you haven't been a member as long as they have or some such shit as that. But when it comes to critiquing images the criticism seems all but non-existant.

On this site I have seen similar behavior from some of the members, and I guess a little ass kissing can be a good thing if it's balanced. If you post an out of focus or poorly composed image on this site, however, you had better have thick skin, because you're gonna get a good dose of truth.

If it is objective criticism of one of my images I would sure prefer that to awesome shot....I love bug photos the most and your spider is a great shot.

If something is lacking, "incorrect", or could be done better, I will try to point it out. However, you have to consider that different people are in different stages of learning. Perhaps a shot that doesn't look like something in an expirienced photog's portfolio, would look like filet mignon to a starved dog in the posters. (no i'm not saying you suggested that, but this is what random thought popped into my head at 3 in the morning).

Commenting is good, Critiqing is better.

see now you have to tell what site that was...

I like comments and commenters here. Such a diverse bunch, the quality of our comments is good we just need to work on quantity :-)

Can't be that many starved dogs over there at $# Forums. A good many of the members over there are quite acomplished.

Commenting is great but critiquing is even better I agree :) the only time I really feel frustrated is when you leave constructive comments and the commentee (am I right) doesn't even mark it as helpful... actually they have a bad habit of not marking anything at all in some cases. This is just frustrating because if I leave a comment, I hope that there is some semblance of "being helpful" on my part. Funny thing is, these are the very same folks who hardly leave comments as well
