Just in case anyone is wondering about the difference between 10mm and 200mm...

Add a couple more from the same shoot:

Yep, you sure do suck! ;-) j/k

Favourite has got to be the boat one - really nice shot. The others are nice, but I don't think they really jump out at me.

Sorry Robert, but it's a bit confusing what you are trying to show/get feedback on.

I understand the first 2 photos are different zoom lengths - assuming 10mm for the one on the left (which I like the best BTW), and 200mm for the one on the right.

What's up with the bottom 2? Anything to do with zoom length, or are they just to look at/evaluate?

They're just posted as pictures. I like 'em. I found the side-by-side shots, top row, amusing, as I took off the 10mm and put on the 200mm and shot them within a minute of each other. Somehow the 10mm keeps looking wider and wider :-)

The others I just piggybacked in for comment. I like the boat shot, and that's the first "bloody sunset with sun's disk" I've ever shot, believe it or not.

Oh yeah, these have very little post processing; all are from RAW, and just a little levels work and a slight hue/sat bump in 'shop, plus sharpening. Not even cropped, except in one case to get closer to the normal aspect ratio.

Quite a difference there. I'd sure like to get me one of those 20x zoom cameras!! j/k ;-)

The boat one is pretty cool. The colors picked up on the boat aren't reflected in the sky. Kinda caught my eye as different.

Yeah. 'cuz there's no clouds in that part of the sky. That's what caught my eye also, as I was walking back to cam from car with my 70-200mm. I can't tell you how many nice shots I've found by turning my back on the sunset, over the years...

Here's a Canon comparison of focal lenths from 15mm to 1200mm.

It's worth noting that those comparisons are for full-size sensors (35mm film size); on the Rebels, 10D, 20D, everything is more telephoto by a factor of 1.6... Another interesting thing is to compare the 15mm fisheye (180 degrees of view, extreme distortion) with my 10mm ultra WA (100 degrees of coverage, no distortion, 35mm equivalent is 16mm).

Good point. But the relative changes between different focal lengths remain the same.

Yeah, of course. It's a good comparison. This just explains why my 10mm isn't as wide as one might think, looking at the 17mm fisheye; compared to sensor size, they are virtually the same focal length. The interesting part is the comparison of distortion. I don't much care for fisheyes, myself.
