Can someone explain how to do a screen shot? Never done one before...
I am running Windows ME if that makes a difference :0)

On XP, all you have to do is hit the "PrtScn" button, then open up your photo editing software and paste it into the program.
It doesn't work with all programs though. I only have one photo program that will do this, and it's the only reason I use that program. |

2nd key from the right, top row = prtscrn
Hit that key and you will put an image of your screen on the clipboard
open an image editor and paste the screenshot, and you've got it. You can paste it into word, too.
alt + prtscrn captures only the active window.
Robt.

I actually tend to use a bit of freeware I've had for ages called hypersnapper. If I can find the original file I'll make it available to all who want it. For non-install freeware (you just put a link to the executable somewhere), it's pretty advanced. It'll do your basic screenshot, as well as specific windows only, and also video, and so on, and then export to a selection of formats.
Edit: typo

Fraps is a good one - offering a free and pay version. //www.fraps.com
Once nice thing is that fraps can make videos for you as well, so if you ever needed to record visually how to do a technique in photoshop, this would be a great option.
hope that helps. |

alt-printscreen allows you to copy the active window only rather than the entire screen.
