Here's the original shot:

rgo suggested I tone down the bokeh sparkle on the left side of the shot. Also, pcody suggested a tighter crop to remove her pant leg from the shot. So I fiddled with it a little in PS, and here's what I came up with:

I am very new to dodging and burning and all that fancy stuff so any thoughts would be appreciated. :)

You've improved the image significantly, and done it competently. Beyond that, I have to say it doesn't really engage me in any significant way. It's not something I want to come back to and look at again. For my tstates, it's too blocked-up contrasty, mostly.
