I looked through the forums and could not find an answer so:
anyone have experience using extension tubes with a 70-200 VR (or IS for cannon users)? If so how close are you able to get your focus down to? |

It depends on the length of the extension tube, but for any given tube length the effects the greatest the wider the lens. The formula if I remember correctly is Length of extension tube/ focal length = magnification. |

So it sounds like when set at 70mm this lens will give me a 1:2.5 magnification using the 27.5mm extension tube. I would assume that since the lens now has a mag factor of 1:6.1 that it would bring the focal legnth down from 5' to about 2'.
Does this sound right? |
