Howdy!!

Well... I am have been back from my vacation to the Southwestern United States. Myself and my family went on a great and beautiful vacation that took us from Santa Fe to Durango Colorado, Mesa Verse, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon, Sedona, and Scottsdale. I was ready for a truckload of great shots.

Unfortunately for me... on my first full day of vacation, the Rebel decides to stop autofocusing as well as becoming very sluggish in its metering capabilities --- hence, a broken camera for vacation. Despite it being broken I was still able to take some photos with it which was a relief; it was just a difficult journey to say the least.

So I have gone through and edited my shots and came up with this small representation of my trip. I have spent A LOT of time getting these images... with focusing, and metering on my own... and it is greatly appreciated that you give me praise/criticism on as many as you feel you can --- I don't need this to be a wasted effort. I dont mean to sound desperate, but it was a miracle that I even got any photos.

Thanks for having a gander!

Too bad about your camera. What lousy timing! My favorites are the Chapel shot and the driftwood in color. The Chapel I've seen in many shots before, but none quite like yours. I like it alot. The colors in your driftwood shot are awesome. Just a great, typical SW shot.

Great shots. Looks like you Tamron 28-200 took some great pictures. I'm glad to see that. I just purchased the Tamron 18-200mm Di-II. Hope to be able to capture some great shots like that. Added three to my fav's.
Great Job!

Fantastic shots.... I particularly like the "Desert Driftwood" shot. Too bad about the problems with the camera... but at least you did manage to capture some great shots.

Thanks! The 28-200 is becoming an outdated lens. I hear the 18-200 kicks its butt... and the 28-200 had some problems but I have learned to overcome them. It's great to have a decent superzoom to cover a wide range of focal lengths. Thanks for the +favs!

Lee,

No autofocus and seat of the pants metering is how it was not too long ago. Its actually a pretty good exercise to go through if you think about it. Seems like you did pretty well and a side benefit of slowing down to set things manually is you end up framing things really well.

Hope your rebel makes a full recovery

I will be seeing exactly what the problem is next week. Manual focusing did help me slow down some but I felt there were some shots that I missed due to focusing problems. Either way, I am a better focuser than ever before! (even on the tiny viewfinder the put in that thing) :)
