Hey. I was recently told by a friend about this Aston Shell for windows. It looks good, and supposedly uses alot less memory and resources, than the normal shell. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I don't fancy installing stuff on my comp. going on 1yr and 5 weeks without reformatting, so it's pretty messed up already. Just wondering, if it's worth installing |

ya i've tried it. there's some cool skins for it. but it's just like relearning how to browse and everything that makes it a pain. aston is the only shell i've tried so i can't really compare to anything else. i found it was cool at first it sort of made me feel all computer wiz with the custom windows and all that stuff. but i got over it after a while.

I tried it on Friday at work. I wouldn't say it's spectacular. I only tried what I got out of the box. For me it looked similar enough to not really add any value.
It's like adding a big exhaust and spoiler to a small car - it makes it look pretty stupid, but doesn't really add anything useful.

I used to use litestep, which was highly customizable. I'm not sure about its compatibility with XP, however. I believe that I was still running '98 when I used that shell. I assume they have updated, but I didn't really look.
It was more for looks and customizability than anything else. I really liked the virtual desktops, but that might be available for windows too through some third party program (??)
