Dropping votes. This will distort the result, more votes mean more accuracy, rather than higher/lower scores.
We need to decide how many votes a typical vistor is capable of, and adjust the votes per submission accoringly. I think 100 votes should qualify you for a submission. I dont like the comment quota, as is encourages too many 'Liked it' or 'Great Pic' comments, which dont really help me get better.
I'd like to see some methodology to reduce the number of poor pictures. Perhaps previous winners or consistent high scorers can get an automatic qualification, and everyone else has to vote to get in.
I can go for the first part (voting on pictures for a submission), but like I've said before, I vote for all of them, and try to comment on as many as possible, submission requirement or not.
I can't go for the last part. I don't think poor pictures should be excluded. If this were a true contest, maybe, but so many people are here to learn how to do this. In my years as an educator, I could tell my students all day long what made something good. They could learn textbook definitions and applications all day long, but until they DID it, fell flat on their face, learned from their mistakes, and went on they couldn't synthesize what they had learned. I think the ones that get the most from DPC are the ones that have submitted the worst pictures. I know it is true in my case.
