These are all scans from some Scala slide film I got a short while ago, which I loved by the way. Anyway, my scanner is not the greatest for scanning slides, and some of them are kind of dirty, so I apologize for that. Anyway, I'd love some feedback on these. I've been trying to get into portraiture more, both candid and posed, so I'd appreciate anything you can give me. Also, some of them don't look too candid, but assure you, they pretty much are, for the most part. I kind of took them right as they saw me. I consider it candid anyway, but maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, thanks! Oh yeah, and the shots on the street are from San Francisco, and then indoor ones are a family get together from a while back.

Are they really that bad?

All right, all right, I'll go sulk in the corner.

they look good but like you said, scanner is not all that. i suspect the originals look really good based on what i can see.

it could also be that people are more interested to know what digital camera took these.. which no digital cam did.

Thanks, but I think it'd be really sad when people are more interested in the equipment than the actual photography, so I really don't think that's it. I guess they really just are not very good, which is okay. You win some, you lose some.

I actually like them, and I think that the dirtiness from the scanner adds to the "candid" feel.

Just what I think.

I've only heard good things about Scala slide film though I've never tried it.

I've only browsed the images you posted however the first to standout is the one titled 'Homeless?'. I like the extreme contrast between the bg and fg.

At this size, however dirty the scans are, they still look pretty good.

I hate to say it though, quite a few people on this site may pay them no mind since they were not taken with a digital camera. Their loss.

I like them as a series ... I like the black & white ... i don't like the lack of sharpness on pretty much all of them (I assume it's because of the scanner).

I'm not suggesting that every photo needs to be tack sharp (especially street stuff), but simply that I think most of these would look better if they were little sharper.

nice series

I'm a big fan of black and white also, and personaly agtree with hopper. They look great as a series, and got to dissagree with cpanaioti about not paying attention. althoe they arn't digital, any true phtography fan can appriciate them. good job~!
