A camping trip this weekend afforded me the opportunity to try a shot of the Milky Way. I elected to use the Canon 15mm fisheye for a really wide view. I did not have access to my telescope mount, so I needed to keep the exposure at or below 30 seconds to avoid too much trailing. That meant that to get any contrast, I'd have to shoot at 800 ISO, and take several exposures and average. Prior to averaging, I'd need to manually subtract a dark-fame from each image, since the 10D does not have this capability in-camera.
Here's the result, six frames, total of 3 minutes exposure:
