How do you convert Notepad doc. to HTML? It seems I have done this in the past but can't remember how.

Just save it as filename.html. It will convert. |

Are you talking windows Notepad? If so just open the txt file in Word and then resave it as a web page using Save As.
edit: whoops, did not see that mk already answered. I did not know that by just changing the extension of a txt file it would convert.

just as long as he has the file extension displayed for known file types and not turned off then you can just delete the .txt and put .html

As long as you select "all files" in the save window, otherwise it saves as filename.html.txt

I tried that. It doesn't look like html to me. It just looks like somebody typed it in Notepad.

You have to actually write in HTML code... you are doing that right?

If you are writing HTML code with Notepad, use Save As, change to All Files, and use .htm extension.
If you are writing something like a story, for example, and want to convert it to a web page, open it in Word, then Save As Web Page. |

This is what I am trying to convert:
logo= Y O U R W E B S I T E T I T L E
&slogan=You can put an optional phrase or slogan of some kind here. Even a short paragraph or a description of what your website is about will fit here. You will edit the flash.txt in Notepad or a plain text editor to change this. You will not need Flash software.
&sub_page_slogan=You can add an optional slogan or phrase here by editing the flash.txt or you can leave this blank.
&loading= LOADING MUSIC
&playing= SAMPLE PLAYING © 2004 SIMPLY MEDIA
&url=index.html
I downloaded a website template and it doesn't let you edit in Frontpage on some things. Haven't figured it out.

Thats not HTML. Looks like it could be a customisable template reference for another PHP file to gather data from?

Not sure what that is, but it's not HTML. Looks like some kind of merge code, like doing a mail merge in Word.
Beat me to the punch!

I didn't think it was html. Just following the website's instructions. I haven't a clue what to do with it.

What file extension is that? Is it just the help instructions? |

Step 1:
EDIT FLASH ANIMATION: | Click for more details
Open the "flash.txt" file with Notepad and change "Your Website Title" to match your name or company name. Be sure not to delete the "logo=". Also change the text following "&slogan=" and the text following "&sub_page_slogan=". The "&playing=" variable is for the name of your homepage music. Be sure not to delete the "&slogan=" or the "&sub_page_slogan=". You can also leave those areas blank if you want.
Here are the instructions. The text I entered previously was the contents of the flash.txt doc. It never says what to do with the mess after you edit it.

I think you can probably just resave it as the same file then...flash.txt |

Ah right, the .swf file gets data from there. Upload the swf and the flash.txt file to the same folder, then view the .swf file in your browser. See if that does anything?

It's all part of a directory. I think I figured it out. I have to upload before it will work. I wanted to work on it a bit at a time to see how it would look, but that will have to wait.
