Hey i have been wanting to get another battery for the canon. Has anyone had any problems with generic brands? I was looking at a Fuji 800mAh. Does anybody know if it could cause problems with the camera?
Or do you have a suggestion where to buy an extra one from that would be safe?

| Can't comment specifically on your camera, but I have a generic extra battery for my D70. Took 400 shots the other night & still shows a full charge. Have had no problems so far. |

I've been using a rotation of 2 canon and 5 generic for my 10D (almost 2 years), and 20D, and haven't had a single problem. Can see no difference in battery life between them either.

I have Sterlintek batteries and they are fine.

I haven't actually purchased from here but they were recommended in a course that I took.

| I bought two random, generic batteries off of ebay for less than 10 bucks, and I have had no problems at all. In fact, at times it seems that the generics outlast the canon one that came with my cam. |

does it matter if it is a higher mAh?? Dont want it to blow up the camera LOL

Not at all. That just shows it's capacity. it's the voltage you want to be the same. 7.2 or 7.4 for my 20D. I have two extra generic batteries off ebay. Best deal you can find. |

higher mAh's usually last longer.
As for blowing up, I've no idea.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I bought the Nikon battery as my spare. I rotate, when I put the new one in, the other one gets charged and ready to be swapped in.
The batteries are going to last a while when used in that fashion -- completely discharged, then fully charged between each cycle, that I see no point in saving even twenty dollars on something that Nikon didn't approve to be put into my camera.

This is where I got all my generics too. Great price, no problems.
They don't have a manufacturer name on them, just says that they're for Canon, and has the battery model # on them. |
