I've been a little out of practice on the whole photography thing lately, but I captured this shot of some friends at the lake recently (no post editing added). Any comments would be greatly appreciated, let me know if I've lost my touch! (I can handle criticism!) Thanks in advance!

I'm not a pro by any means ... I like the "feel" of the photo, but the sunlight on the water is really blown out, and takes away from any detail. I'm sure the silhouette was intentional, but so much is in shadow, it's hard to know what I'm looking at. I think maybe if you had a different angle, maybe more behind the people so that their shadows don't blend in with the foliage around them, and then get some more detail of the hills in the background, would really improve the composition. I did something like this myself, and the more I look at it, the more I think of ways to improve it.
Hopefully this helps ... and try some post processing and see what you get out of it! :)

Thanks for the comment, I was just sorta goofing around with my camera when I saw the two of them talking. I'll see what I can come up with in photoshop to fix it a little (unless it's beyond help!). |
