I hear lots of good things about handstraps.I use a neck strap and with longer/heavier lenses I always support the lens when walking with my hand, I also have a battery grip with shutter button.

1. Do peeps use a hand strap with longer/heavier lenses?

2. Do handstrap users just ignore the bg functions?

I don't know what you mean by bg fuctions...

I use both, on my camera, as in, they're both on all the time.

The Battery Grip functions, as well as a portrait shutter button I have AE lock, AF lock and AF point selector so, if you are using the Hand Strap and want to shoot portrait you can't use these functions (one of the reasons I have a BG)

I don't have any problems using any of the bottons on my grip.

ok, am confused now, how exactly do you attach the grip to the cam? I imagine its in landscape so when you take a portrait shot you still use the landscape buttons, I prefer to use the portrait controls on the grip and as mentioned earlier, with longer/heavier lenses I like to support them. Guess its a 'what feels best' thing?

I cannot disconnect my grip from the camera... any 20D owners around with an answer?

This thread is sort of confusing at this stage. But then again it's been a long week :-)

I use a hand strap on my 20D, and I have a battery grip. I shoot in portrait mode frequently, and yes, that means removing the hand from the handstrap if I want to do so comfortably, using the shutter release on the battery grip. Otherwise, if I leave my hand in the handstrap I would have to use the regular controls. The controls on the battery grip are in no way inaccessible with the hand strap attrached though.

I hope any or all of that made sense :-)

i have a hand strap on both my dslrs...it makes the cameras stay in hand and ready to shoot at a seconds notice...My KM 7D has a place on the grip and the top, the Fuji uses the spot that you would attach it to a tripod (the strap has a hole to use for the tripod on it) to attach the bottom of the hand strap. Neither hampers my use the buttons on the grips.

I use the standard neck strap that came with my 300D, however I find most of the time I have it wrapped around my hand. Maybe I should look at a handstrap, but with having the battery grip on my camera I just think this may be really awkward?

I don't know why it would be awkward - the Canon hand strap is made to work in conjunction with a battery grip.

i have no battery grip and use a pro tech hand strap as well as a neck strap.
