I've been a member of DP for over a year now. I love the challenges. They've made me a better photographer. I have a suggestion that could possibily help with overall submission quality and fluidity to the submission process.
Currently, on the main page, there are two columns: 1. Challenge Submission & 2. Cast Your Votes!. I don't have a problem with the way that is setup. However, I would suggest adding one more column to the left of the first column that says something like "Coming soon!" or "Upcoming Challenges."
I think that one week is a very limited amount of time for most people to think, photograph, edit, and sumit their photos. Actually, the "thinking" part is what takes so long...for me, personally. I went to Alaska a few months ago. I didn't have access to the Internet, so I wasn't able to see what challenges were going on during the week I missed. I was pretty bummed. On the other hand, if I had know what challenges were "on the horizon," I might have been able to get some good, relevant shots for the challenge(s).
The challenges in the new column do not need to have a set date attached to them...it would be more of a list of 5 or 6 challenges that would be coming along in the next 4 weeks (as an example). That would give everyone a little more time to think about picture ideas and ultimately improve the overall quality of the submissions. |
