I am interested in buying the sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 lens and I am looking for some feed back from you owners out there please.

So please help me out here. I have did a search and looked at some of you images which are awesome but I would like to here about the pros/cons on the lens. How do u like it, how easy is it to carry this thing?

Yes, it is heavy, but you get used to it. I just got the battery grip and the leather handstrap and that helps with the balance and ergonomics

I have it, too, and I like it a lot! I use it for the Steelers games, but I'll be getting a teleconverter soon to bring things in just a bit closer.

The weight doesn't bother me a lot. It comes with a mount for a tripod, but I generally go without.

Beautiful lens. Seemed heavy at first, but its managable.
I took some of my zoo shots at the DC gtg with it .

I have borrowed this lens off a friend in the past and as people have already said it seems heavy at first, but after a couple of outings you soon get used to it (I have shot whole marathons with my canon 70-200 F2.8 IS hand held). The sigma I would say is very slightly softer than the canon wide open, but there really isn't lot in it. Focus seemed slightly slower on the sigma imho.

Fred Mirander is always worth a read when looking at a new lens:

All my softball shots are taken with this lens, see my portfolio.
I have a 2x converter, never use it any more, shots are soft, lack dead on focus. Maybe the 1/4 converter is better?

Photozone has a nice review of the lens.
//www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/sigma_70200_28/index.htm

doesn't seem to compare well to the Canon 70-200 f2.8L though

I think I'd recommend the Canon after having read this.
