I don't think there is anything wrong with the way nsbca7 has priced his items. I see things go for more than I want to pay all the time on ebay. But if I were in the market for one of those lenses I wouldn't mind meeting his price because I feel I can trust him to give an honest description. On ebay, that's worth a lot.

I do think it was out of place for someone to try to tell Niten to mind his own business for simply expressing an opinion.

I have seen on many forums where a poster plugs his eBay listing. often teh price is, to me, too high. It depends...if you bought something at Ritz or other camera store and paid close to retail then you could and would list on ebay at b&h's prices or above and think you were giving a deal. there are major price diffrence regionally too.

I recently sold some old railroad newsletters on ebay. i was cleaning out some junk and figured why not...I got $35 for ONE issue! I considered offering them on a board to fellow modelers for $5 each...that seemed high to me but is obviously too low. (now to sell the rest and buy some filters i think...)

As to the matter in discussion here, it is worth what someone will pay for it. If it is too high, it will not sell. If it sells, it was not too high. I have bought lenses (new and used) off ebay and had no problems. You may have had a different experience and the peace of mind of paying more at b&h (or where ever) is worth it to you. New does come with a full factory warranty - used will not. What is that worth to you?

I'm not selling all of my stuff. I still have three good lenses that I use the most, I just bought a 300/2.8L IS and I am buying a 1Ds Mk II and another fast prime. The lenses I am selling are worth little to me if I don't use them, and I don't. Hopefully someone else will. They are good lenses.

Sold five lenses and a flash.
180/3.5L $1,006.00
85/1.8 USM $347.00
100/2 USM $363.25
EX 2X II $255.00
EX 1.4X II $280.00
MT24EX Twin Lite $650

The total for the sale was 2901.25. That is about $300 less then I paid for the lot new last year.

2 of the lenses went for more then I had set the "Buy It Now" for. So much for pricing them too high.

Well on my way to the 1Ds Mark II.

I paid $2400. PM me if you are interested and I will give you the PH# of the shop. I sent it back this afternoon. Knock the price down. The history the guy gave me was BS. He'll come down now.
