NeatImage can be downloaded for free but with some restriction unless upgraded. It can get rid of noise. You can use it as a plug-in for photoshop.

It is noise-reduction software, available as a standalone program or as a Phtooshop plugin.
//neatimage.com
There are many other programs out there which do the same thing; try searching for them at //Cnet.com
I use a free one called PictureCooler (Windows only) |

It is a bit of software that removes noise from photos. All cameras have some degree of noise in the picture and these packages (like Noise Ninja that I use) try to remove the imperfections introduced by the camera (lens and light pickup whatever the technical term for that is)
You can use it like another filter in photoshop. If it is like Noise Ninja, you can create default settings for your camera and its various ASA values, and use these on your pics before adjusting them. It will also have an auto feature where it will be able to determine what it thinks the bestsettings are for a given picture.
It can also be used after processing to soften areas.
I am not sure of the website but if you google NeatImage I am sure you will find it.
