I want to rip some of my cds to make a mp3 cd. I have Nero Start Smart that came with my DVD burner. Version 6.6.0.15. How do I rip audioi from a cd to my hard drive with this program? If I can't then does anyone know a freebie program out there that would do it. I searched //www.snapfile.com but couldn't find anything.

Windows Media Player 10 is pretty easy to use, it has a tab on top that says "RIP", you select which tracks you want and it brings them onto the hard drive. Best of all, it's free! Microsoft.com, it may be on the homepage, otherwise just click downloads and it should be listed there.

If I am ripping cds I bought at the retail store then it should be legal to rip for my own purposes. My cd player in the truck plays mp3 cds. I can fit like 175 songs per cd. I have 500 cds all legit copies in my library. I can probably reduce that nu,ber to about 100 and have them all in my truck if I wish. I am planning on making my own cd with all the songs I like best. One song here one song there. Now when I put up the auction on ebay to sell copies of these cds then that is illeagal

It's not illegal if you own the CD's, rip them for personal use only (i.e., no redistribution), and you destroy all copies if you sell the CD.

by owning the original (cd, tape, 8 track or record) you own the liscense to have that music on your computer or as an mp3 for you car or truck. I have over 125gigs of music on my pc and I have the originals for almost all of it except for the trance club mix stuff.
